Buyer Beware
I just posted this in our "Junk Mail" board at work, it's a database in Outlook where we post things like shift trades, giveaways, events, stuff like that. Something happened that quite irked me, and there was nothing I could do about it... except pass on the info so it doesn't happen to anyone else & maybe the place will learn something when they lose business... or it was just to vent... but whatever, I thought I'd share my story here too:
If you ever decide to shop in the ASIA gift shops downstairs in City Place, be warned…
Sure, there's some neat stuff, but be careful before purchasing. Make sure it is what you think it is & that you want it… they aren't too big on refunds… or customer service.
I just bought a gift for the in-laws, a glass ornament with a 'poem' on it. I brought it home & realized that they spelled the word "feel" as "fell" and it looks very wrong… "...making me fell special!?!
Is there a special way to fell?!?
So I went back there to see if it was just the one I had chosen. Nope, they are all like that. I asked if I could have something discounted for it - no. A refund? No. I could exchange something… no thanks. Now I am stuck with it & get to give a gift with a spelling error on it, won't I look bright?!?
Did he remove the rest of them from the counter display to send back so mo one else buys this? Nope, he'll gladly take the money & hope no one notices again.
When I got there to check this out today, there was an elderly lady speaking to him & I over heard the conversation. She was upset - she had purchased an area rug that said it was 8X10 feet. She said it was short by 4 inches. He pretty much told her that 8X10 isn't precise, only approximate & the measurements can't always be exact. He said "I don't make them, that's how I get them" and would not help her either.
Last year I bought slip covers from there for my couches. I asked when I bought them if they didn't fit, could I bring them back? He said no, they should fit fine. I went to put them back. He asked if I worked here & then said fine, I could bring it back, but only if it was the very next day. So I bought them. I didn't have a chance to get them on that night & did it over the weekend. They didn't fit at all, they looked like crap, like an ugly old bedspread or something draped over my sofa! But a few days had passed and I was again stuck.
So, learn from my mistakes, and the lady ahead of me, be warned!
Just thought I should share :)
