We Have A Baby!!!
Introducing the newest member of our family!!!

He is a year and a half old Daschund named Spike. We are not sure if we are going to keep that name though... I like to call him Frankie... we've thought of a few others... but Frankie Doodle Wesa sounds best to me! :)

But Hank has to 'okay' that too, it has to be both of our decision... and I think he wants to just keep it that way...

He is really awesome and we love him already. He can be very playful & fun, and also can be very cuddly. He was raised with other animals; three cats & two other dogs, so he is okay with the cats, but the cats are still getting used to him. Like everything with a new pet, it'll take time to adjust!

I already love him to bits! I had to put him in the kennel before I left for work & it broke my heart! But we have to train him that way when we're not home... it's for the best... and he'll get used to it. But we're gonna bring him every place we can... most of our friends & family have dog-friendly homes...

Here's some pics...

This is him snuggled up in an afghan.

This is me & him laying on the couch. Don't mind all my chins & the way I look! I just got up & look all poopy, but I love the pic cuz it reminds me of a new Mommy looking at her new baby with such love! Heehee:

This is him siting on the pillow resting his head way up high like a little weirdo... How can that be comfortable? Maybe he's just being snobby with his nose in the air!

And him just being cute on the pillow on the couch:

And a shot of him outside when we first brought him home:

And him sitting/playing with Hank:

Isn't he just the most precious freaking thing you ever did see?!? I know, i am going to be just horribly annoying with going on & on about him for the next while!

So if anyone is wondering how this happened:

Hank's cousin is joining the military & will be going away very soon so she is giving away her animals. the other ones are spoken for, but this one was left so she called Hank knowing he is a responsible one & that it would be nice to keep it in the family etc. We researched lots & talked about it for a week or so & decided we should give it a shot. We went to her place Saturday & asked if we could take him for a few days & then make a decision. She said okay. It wasn't hard to decide. Sure, it's a lot of responsibility, but that's okay... we can handle it... change is good. So he called her today to let her know. We thought she might want him back until she leaves in a few weeks or a month or so, but I guess it was decided it's best not to confuse the poor guy anymore bringing him back & forth, so he's officially ours! We just need to get the names changed over from the tatoos etc & get all his info & whatever else from her. YAY!

I'm such a happy proud Mommy!

Hah. Maybe this'll get me off my "I want a baby kick!" For awhile anyway... ;)

So anyway, while I am here, I guss I should update... I haven't been here in over a week.

It was a very busy week... with helping out with the service for LilWea's Mom etc. It was a very nice service though & I was glad to have helped.

Thursday Hank & I had a date. We asked around where we should go for dinner that was close to the concert hall & looked stuff up on the net & found a place called Gilroy's that was mailny a garlic place. We thought that'd be cool, so we parked at the theatre & walked there in 90km/hr winds to find out it was no longer there! FACK! Anyway, so we kept walking & found Decanter's. i was not impressed. It was very pricey for mediocre food & BLAHtmosphere. The menu had like maybe 8 dinner's to choose from & it was just typed up on copy paper stapled together in the corners. You'd think they could afford to get a real menu done up. Anyway we ate & then Hank started getting a headache. He asked the waitress if she might have a Tylenol or something, since we were going to Phantom, it was just a shitty time to have a headache. So she came back with these gel pills & said they were "Advil 400's" so he'd probably only need one. I have never heard of these things & I tried later to look them up on the net, even on the Advil web site & saw nothing about them. they did say Advil 400 right on them... so it's really weird. Anyway, we got to the theatre & in our seats & all was well. We were enjoying the show (Phantom of the Opera if you didn't know) when all of a sudden Hank broke out into a huge sweat. He was soaked! He said he wasn't feeling so good. He never gets sick, and when he does he refuses to puke, so I thought he'd be okay, at least until intermission. We were sitting centre of the first balcony, first row, totally perfect, and I just didn't think he should get up & disturb all these people by getting up & going to the bathroom or whatever he needed to do. I told him to put his head between his knees... so he did... and then I heard him gag. Then I saw him sawllow it down... and then I heard... "Oh God, Oh God..." and he couldn't hold it... he threw up a little into his hands under the seat! Oh my God... it was scary! I didn't know what to do for him! He took off the dress shirt he had on over the t-shirt & put it over the mess until intermission when we wiped it up & sprayed body spray I had in my purse. He felt okay after that. We apologized to the people next to us, and they said it was okay, and just asked if he was alright. Nice that we had decent people next to us that were caring & considerate about it, it's not like it was on purpose or anything that could have been avoided, but I bet there could have been some people that would have reacted like real jerks about the whole thing. Ugh. Anyway, it happened so fast & then it was over & forgotten. We both really enjoyed the show, and we'll go again if it comes back in another 10 years.

Oh, so more about the dog... this girl has never gotten him his shots! She feeds him really expensive wholistic food so she thought it unnecessary, but I disagree. We'll still feed him well, but we need to get him his shots. And anything else the vet might say he needs... maybe get his toenails cut a bit... and get him registered... and look into pet insurance... dogs can be pretty expensive if they need a vet here & there & I read that Daschunds tend to have back problems with their long spines etc. so might be a good idea.

And I found out today that I get Boxing Day off so I get to stay in Edmonton for Christmas day! YAY! We'll be there for like 10 days. Awesome. I am excited for that too.

Time to look at flight prices... nothing more to say at the moment.

Toodles!
